FAQ (Frequently Asked Questions)

In plain English, what we're up to and what we plan to achieve...

What are we up to?

Our first order of business is to go viral and gain the support, through membership, of as close to 100% of our states Corrections Professionals as we can:

In order to gain the support of our states Legislators we need an organization that represents ALL Corrections Professionals: Several times over the last decade, while attempting to improve our current retirement system, we were told that until we represented pretty much everyone that they (our Legislators) would not have the motivation to listen to or truly work for us. While it was strange that some of our politicians would be so straight forward, I'm sure they felt comfortable in our inability to actual organize ourselves into an organization that could do what they claimed we needed to do, to get their attention.

What we aim to do...

Our number one goal is to effect change to our current retirement system so that it is properly funded and not used for funding other projects by our states Legislators: There are several worthy changes we'd all like to see made to our retirement system including making it more accurately reflect the fact that we work with the worst members of our society on a daily basis. Sacrificing our health, both physical and mental, working to keep our law abiding citizens safe from it's worst members. But to start we will focus on transforming our retirement system into one that can't be used for any other purposethan what it was intended for.

Why us?

In order to gain the support of our states Legislators we need an organization that represents ALL Corrections Professionals: Several times over the last decade, while attempting to improve our current retirement system, we were told over and over again that until we represented pretty much everyone that they (our Legislators) would not have the motivation to listen to or truly work for us. While it was strange that some of our politicians would be so straight forward, I'm sure they felt comfortable in our inability to actual organize ourselves into an organization that could do what they claimed we need to, to get their attention.

Why not the WSJA?

The Washington State Jail Association is NOT capable of achieving the membership required to get more than token lip service from our states Legislators: While the goals of the WSJA are noble, unfortunately it has not shown itself capable of actually doing anything other than have meetings with their leadership, occasional. For this reason and perhaps others, several large labor organizations that have sponsored memberships in the past have withdrawn their support. And without their memberships they simply aren't capable of attaining the required representation stated by our states Legislators.

What's up with the focus on "Professionalism", conduct and how we do our jobs?

Because we are a professional organization, representing professionals in a very specific field we believe it is important to promote and encourage conduct and sharing information that further illustrates why we should recieve the support of our states legislators both now and in the future: We deserve the support of our states legislators because we are the providing them and our communities with the best services we can and in an effort to do our very best to continue to do so we will provide and share information that helps us to be the best Corrections Professionals on the planet.
