Our time with her a blessing.
She held us in loving arms, tended our skinned knees and sent us back out to experience life.
Like the lighthouses she loved, her humor, empathy, strength, and passion for life prove precious gifts to help guide and navigate our lives by.
Whether raging beast or the more prickly of life's thorns, she protected us with a mother's fierce love and devotion, as best she could.
Even when the pain crippled and the cancer weakened, she found the strength to let us know she would love us evermore.
Ever smiling, always sustaining, eternally shining, our star, our Mom…

Ethel May Jansen RACINE
- Mrs. Ethel May Jansen, 64, passed away on Saturday, April 11, 2009, at Ruth
Hospice in West Allis. Ethel M. (nee: Masterson) Jansen was born in Casper,
Wyo. to the late Thomas and Juanita (nee: Davis) Masterson on October 1, 1944.
She spent part of her life living in Seattle, Wash. and the past 44 years in
Racine. In Milwaukee, she was united in marriage to Harold L. Jansen at the
Church of Jesus Christ of the Latter-day Saints on October 1, 1966. Mrs. Jansen
was a member of the Church of Jesus Christ of the Latter-day Saints. She was
also a member of the Classic Cruiser's Car Club and two bowling leagues - the
Monday Night Woman's League and the Friday AM Senior's League. She was employed
at Walgreen's for 13 years. She was an avid Trekkie and reader. She enjoyed
lighthouses and knitting. She was a lover of life and animals and always had
a hat for all special occasions. Most importantly, she loved being with her
family. Ethel is survived by her husband of 44 years, Harold; four children,
Leonard (Lori) Orth, Karen (John) Roberts, Edward Orth, and Debbie (Mark) Backhaus;
12 grandchildren, Ryan, Nathan, Michael, Linda, Christopher, Taryn, James, Aaron,
Hannah, Stephanie, Melissa, and Noah; two great-grandchildren; four sisters
and one brother, Juanita Krier, Thomas (Roberta) Masterson, Linda (Dale) Moyer,
Betty Masterson, and Shirley (Mark) Robertson; and other relatives and friends.
She was preceded in death by her mother-in-law and father-in-law, Harry and
Fern Jansen; one grandson, Harrison; and one brother-in-law, Ronald Krier. Services
will be held at the Wilson Funeral Home on Wednesday, April 15, 2009, at 12
noon, with Bishop Mitch Blake officiating. Interment will follow at West Lawn
Memorial Park. Relatives and friends may meet with the family at the funeral
home on Wednesday from 10 a.m. until time of service. Memorials may be directed
to the Susan G. Komen for the Cure for Breast Cancer. A special thank you to
the staff at Ruth Hospice and Bishop Mitch Blake for their kind and compassionate
